Thursday 21 March 2019 marked the 33rd annual PLC Awards and Design Portfolio were once again proud to sponsor and attend this prestigious event. Often described as ‘the’ City event of the year, the PLC Awards are aimed at all quoted companies listed on the main market, encompassing the FTSE 100, FTSE 250, FTSE Small Cap and Fledgling indices.
Over 500 CEOs, CFOs, Company Secretaries, fund managers, analysts, investment bankers and corporate advisors gathered at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, London, eagerly awaiting what the night had in store.
Design Portfolio’s Content and Strategy team were pleased once again to provide the benchmarking analysis for the ‘Best Investor Communication Award’ with supporting specialist presentations delivered by Senna Mather and Michael Walsh, at the voting panel meeting.
We were also proud to sponsor the Transformation of the Year Award, which was presented on stage by our Managing Director, Julie Wilford. Our client Softcat plc won the coveted Company of the Year Award and Nanoco Technologies, Marshalls plc and Amigo Holdings plc were also nominated for awards throughout the evening.
As the doors opened, hosts, sponsors, guests and nominees enjoyed a VIP drinks reception and a delicious three-course dinner before the lights dimmed and the ceremony officially began.
Hosted by Louise Minchin, a hugely respected journalist, broadcaster and TV presenter for the BBC, the remaining winners were announced as follows:
Best Investor Communication – Hikma Pharmaceuticals plc
Best Performing Share – Ocado Group plc
Fund Manager of the Year Award – FP Foresight UK Infrastructure Fund
Sustainability Award – Britvic plc
Innovation in Technology Award – Zotefoams plc
Transformation of the Year Award – Whitbread plc
CEO of the Year Award – Kate Swann/SSP Group plc
New Company of the Year Award – IntegraFin Holdings plc

The evening concluded with a terrific comedy set by impressionist, Jon Culshaw and culminated in an excellent opportunity to network and connect with industry colleagues, past and present.
